A kitchen remodel remains one of the most sought after improvements in a home. It’s the room where conversations are had, and nourishment is sought. It also remains a key factor when selling a home as the old real estate adage goes, “Kitchens sell houses.”

A kitchen remodel also happens to be a home improvement where owners can recoup a large part of their initial investment – so long as they don’t go overboard with the revamp. According to recent statics taken in 2018 (Remodeling Magazine), here are the details:

So yes, investing in a kitchen remodel can help improve your home value while also making it much more appealing and easier to sell if you plan to unload it.

Saving money is always in the back of our minds, and it’s with good reason. A kitchen remodels can quickly get out of hand if you don’t set a budget back by reasonable expectations. With that in mind, here are the easiest ways to save money on your kitchen remodel.

COUNTERTOPS: If budget is of concern, we always tell our clients to choose the most inexpensive countertop solutions. The reason being? Kitchen cabinets are the foundation of your kitchen, and as your budget increases, you can always change the countertop to the material of your liking. Choosing a more inexpensive material such as wood or concrete, can easily save you thousands.

HARDWARE/ APPLIANCES: Hardware and appliances can quickly drive your kitchen remodel cost up by a few thousand dollars. To save money, try to reuse appliances that are still good and when it comes to hardware selection, choose items that are within reason. Again, as your budget or needs increase, you can always change them out. Case in point, a Kohler motion-activated faucet will run you upwards of 600 dollars, whereas a nice conventional faucet can cost you somewhere around $60 for a very nice unit. Right there and then, you save just over $400.

REPAINT/ REFACING OPTIONS:
If you are okay with the layout and storage solutions in your current kitchen, then maybe a simple refinishing or refacing your cabinets is exactly what you need. If this sounds like a good idea, the first thing you have to consider is your cabinets’ condition. If they are structurally sound, then repainting them is an excellent option if you like the existing style, but if you’re looking to go more contemporary or country, maybe kitchen refacing is something you should look into.
“Refacing” a kitchen means replacing the doors and hardware on your kitchen cabinets. This is a cost-effective way of drastically changing your kitchen style, and the same holds true for repainting or refinishing.
If you need more information on these two processes, please feel free to contact us or your local kitchen cabinet remodeler.

If you are happy with your current kitchen cabinets when it comes to drawer placement, style and storage capacity then repainting is always a good option.

First you will want to make sure that your cabinets are in good structural condition and if so, then a repaint may be the ticket to landing the kitchen of your dreams.

You can also consider refacing your cabinets with new doors should  you want to change your current style.

We can help with both options and our refinishing division (The Finish Masters) is more than happy to provide you with an obligation free estimate.
